Paediatric Allergy Care and Treatment in Wimbledon, London
Specialist Allergy Care for Children
At Wimbledon Medical Service, we provide specialist paediatric allergy care and treatment for infants, children and young people from 0 to 18 years of age, supporting families across Wimbledon and South West London.
Our paediatric allergy care is led by Mrs Rosy Wells, a highly experienced consultant paediatric allergist with expertise in both routine and complex childhood allergy.
Every child's allergy journey is different. Some children experience mild but persistent symptoms that affect sleep, concentration or confidence, while others live with the daily anxiety of severe allergic reactions. Our role is to provide clear answers, practical guidance and carefully considered treatment plans that help families feel informed and supported.
We know that receiving an allergy diagnosis can feel overwhelming for parents, particularly when food restrictions may affect school and social situations.
Our aim is to support families beyond diagnosis by providing practical, balanced guidance, including help with:
understanding which allergens genuinely require avoidance
knowing when foods may be safely reintroduced
reducing the nutritional impact of elimination diets
medication plans for home and school
recognising when treatment should be adjusted
understanding how and when medications should be used
Allergic symptoms in children can range from mild and persistent to sudden and severe. We assess and help manage symptoms such as:

Allergy Testing and Diagnosis for Children
Accurate diagnosis begins with a detailed paediatric allergy consultation, including a full medical history review and symptom assessment. Where appropriate, we carry out allergy testing to confirm triggers and guide treatment.
In-clinic testing available:
Skin prick testing
Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) testing
Spirometry
Where helpful, we can also arrange specific IgE blood tests and discuss supervised food challenges to confirm whether a food can be safely reintroduced. Following assessment, every child receives a personalised allergy management plan tailored to their symptoms, age and individual needs.
Allergy Treatment and Management
We offer a comprehensive, child-centred approach, with personalised management plans designed to improve symptoms, quality of life and long-term outcomes. Depending on your child's needs, this may include allergen avoidance strategies, antihistamines and support with eczema or asthma management, nutritional and dietary guidance to reduce the impact of elimination diets, and clear emergency allergy plans for home and school. Where needed, we provide anaphylaxis management advice and adrenaline auto-injector (such as EpiPen) training, along with ongoing allergy monitoring and follow-up appointments.
Allergen Immunotherapy
Where appropriate, we also discuss newer treatment approaches, including allergen immunotherapy for selected patients with peanut, sesame, pollen and house dust mite allergies. Early immunotherapy aims to gradually increase a child's tolerance to specific allergens through carefully supervised exposure programmes. In selected children, this can reduce the risk of reactions following accidental exposure and may help alter the long-term course of allergy.
